Christina Woo & Ronnie Coates

IT IS MY pleasure to present the CARL Member of the Year Award.  The Member of the Year Award recognizes outstanding achievements and contributions to CARL and the profession.
I would like to thank the Awards Committee–John McGinnis, Chair, from Cerritos College; Cynthia Jahns, Northern Vice President, UC Santa Cruz; and Beth Sibley, UC Berkeley, our latest Member of the Year.
This year, we have two awardees.

The first awardee has been a CARL member since coming to California in 1987.  She has been an active member of CARLDIG South and CALM South.  She has presented at several interest group programs and was a panelist for a pre-conference yesterday.  She also served on the Conference Planning Committee for the 4th and 6th annual conferences.
She served on the CARL Executive Board as Southern Interest Group Coordinator and was Newsletter Editor for three years.  Please join me in congratulating Ms. Christina Woo as CARL's first 2000 Member of the Year.
Our second Member of the Year has been active in CARL, ACRL, and ALA since coming to California.  She was an active member of the San Diego OnlineUser's Group, GODORT, and ACRL's law and political science sections.  She served on the Steering Committee for the 6th annual CARL conference and was Local Arrangements Coordinator for the 4th annual conference in San Diego.
She was a member of the CARL Executive Board for two years, serving as the Secretary and Treasurer.  She just recently retired from the University of California, San Diego, where she held positions of Assistant Department Head for Reference and Assistant Department Head of Government Documents.  Please join with me in congratulating Ronnie Coates as our second 2000 Member of the Year.
