IT'S
NOTABLE that the winners of the CARL Research Award this year come from
the fastest- growing segment of our membership, community college librarians.
"Developing and Field-Testing Valid Information Competency
Assessment Instruments: A Collaboration of Bay Area Community College
and CSU Librarians," submitted by Bonnie Gratch Lindauer from City
College of San Francisco and colleagues Brian Lym (City College of San
Francisco), Micca Gray (Santa Rosa Junior College), and Topsy N. Smalley
(Cabrillo College), is the winning proposal. We all all look forward
to learning about the results of their project on this topic of real value
to the profession. I'd also like to note that the number of proposals
submitted increased noticeably this year, which augurs well for the state
of librarianship in California.
