Dr. Anita Coleman

Linda Salem, Chair, 1998 CARL Research Committee,
presents the award to Dr. Anita Coleman.

President Les Kong and Dr. Anita Coleman

IT WAS my pleasure to present the 3rd annual CARL Research Award certificate and $1,000 to the project, "The Definition of a Digital Library for California Community Colleges," on September 12th at the 6th Annual CARL Conference. Dr. Anita Coleman, Assistant Professor and Systems Librarian at Santa Ana College, designed and submitted this project.
Dr. Coleman's project will develop a model digital library and accompanying courses for use in community college settings. The project's results will include a statement of collection development principles for digital libraries, a proposed model collection, and reports of course evaluations.
The CARL Web site will post these results, and Dr. Coleman will provide updates to the CARL membership through the CARL Newsletter.
I'd like to thank the members of the year's CARL Research Award Committee for their thoughtful work. They are:

    Marianne Affifi
    University of Southern California

    Judy Lee
    UC, Riverside

    Linda Shoemake
    American River College

    Jean Stackpole

This year's successful proposal was one of three reviewed by the Research Award Committee. Congratulations to Dr. Coleman, and thanks to all who submitted proposals.
