Demystifying SEIR:
Demystifying Systemwide Electronic Information Resources

   Current and former members of the EAR (Electronic Access Resources) Committee will speak about the structure and various functions of the committee within the larger context of SEIR (Systemwide Electronic Information Resources.)  This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the work and impact of this very influential body within the California State University System.  The program is not only for CSU librarians but is open to all interested parties.

Location: CSU Chancellor's Office, Long Beach,  Wallace Room
Cost: $10.00 for CARL members, $12.00 for others

Schedule of Events:

9-9:25am Registration and Continental Breakfast
Linda Moske...the history, purpose and vision of SEIR and the EAR committee.
Mark Langston....the operation of the EAR committee: how votes are taken, criterion, pricing issues, communication with campuses and funding considerations.
10:25-10:45am Break
Evan Reader...the common core of electronic resources that all CSUs subscribe to and how the core is created, funded and reviewed.
Carol Bednar...collection development issues; including funding and the CSUF electronic resources evaluation process.
Mary Woodley...cataloging issues: database stability and models of consortia cataloging.
12-1pm Box Lunch with continued informal discussions
