Cal Maritime Academy Historical Archives
An estimated several thousand items of memorabilia up to 70 years old on the Cal Maritime Academy history. The collection includes the archive of ships’ logs from the first and second Golden Bear training ships, printed materials dating back to 1929 when the Academy was founded, bells from previous training ships, uniforms, buttons, badges, plaques, ships’ wheels, photographs, a complete set of “The Hawsepipe” (yearbook), the infrequent and often irreverent newsletter called “Binnacle,” training cruise memorabilia, and newspaper clippings published here and abroad.
