Receive FREE membership to as many interest groups within CARL as you like. The interest groups provide workshops, seminars, listserv, web sites, and conference programs. The interest groups are:

ABLE: Academic Business Librarian Exchange. ABLE provides for those interested members engaged in business reference and information services a chance to share information and concerns on business reference and its sources.

CALM: California Academic Librarian in Management. CALM provides for those interested members engaged in management activities a chance to share information and concerns dealing with management issues.

CARLDIG: California Academic and Research Libraries Discussion Interest Group. CARLDIG provides interested members a chance to promote, discuss and develop the interests of librarians in current and evolving reference issues of professional concern. Visit the CARLDIG web site for more information.

CARL-IT: California Academic & Research Libraries Information Technology. CARL-IT provides for those interested members a chance to to promote and develop the interests of librarians interested in current and evolving information technology issues and how information technology can be integrated into practical matters of librarianship. CCIG: Community College Interest Group. CCIG provides for those interested members engaged in community college librarianship a chance to share information and concerns on community college libraries and issues.

CDIG: Collection Development Interest Group. CDIG provides for those interested members engaged in collection development and management activities a chance to share information and concerns on collection development issues.

CSUL: California State University Librarians. CSUL shall promote the interests and welfare of the libraries and librarians in the California State University (CSU) System where issues of professional concern can be discussed. DIAL: Diversity in Academic Librarianship. DIAL shall promote equality and racial/ethnic diversity within the library profession as a whole and specifically within academic and research libraries. Recruitment, retention, and advancement of underrepresented people of color to the library profession in general and to academic libraries specifically; the sponsoring of educational efforts to heighten racial/ethnic sensitivity within academic libraries; and to ensure that the association's organization, strategic plans, standards, programs, and activities reflect the interests of equity for traditionally underserved populations in academic libraries. GIPIG: Government Information and Publications Interest Group. GIPIG interest group encourages the exchange of ideas and information relating to access and use of government information. Visit the GIPIG web site for more information.

SCIL: Southern California Instruction Librarians (pronounced"skill"). SCIL strives to improve the quality of library instruction in California by sharing expertise, resources and ideas; identify the variety of library instruction programs in progress or in preparation in California for the knowledge, discussion, and networking of area instruction librarians from all types of academic and research institutions. SEAL: Science and Engineering Academic Librarians. SEAL strives to provide opportunities for professional development, networking, discussion, education, and participation for members with an interest in library service to science and engineering academic and research libraries.

TSIG: Technical Services Interest Group. TSIG is devoted to technical services issues and practices.
