Sharing the Wealth in San Diego:
the New Circuit

Nancy Carol Carter
Director of the Pardee Legal Research Center
University of San Diego

NANCY CAROL Carter discussed the new partnership between UCSD, SDSU, USD, and CSUSM. The San Diego Circuit is heir to a long history of cooperation: OCLC, MARC records, Ohiolink and CSUlink. Two years ago, the library directors of the University of California, San Diego; San Diego State University; University of San Diego, and California State University, San Marcos, established a project to share their resources on a local level to serve their patrons better and provide shared access to 3.4 million book titles. It was initiated in January 1998 among the four academic libraries, with the cost prorated according to the number of FTE students and faculty. Future participants will include San Diego public and county libraries. To read more about the Circuit, see: 130.191.17.20/.
