Co-Chairs' Welcome

“Welcome to DIAL!!! As our mission statement reflects, we are a committee interested in expanding and insuring diversity in our professional lives. Personally, I am very interested in building a professional committee where academic librarians can embrace issues about diversity and minorities and create new paths in the context of Academic Libraries.

It is a pleasure to serve as one of the Co-Chairs of DIAL-South. We will continue to host programs and events that support our mission of “the advancement of under-represented people of color in the profession” and well as social events.”

~Chimene Tucker , Co-Chair

Welcome to DIAL-South! I am humbled and honored to serve as Co-Chair and will continue to promote DIAL’s mission through programming. The call to service for today's librarians challenges us to engage critically beyond the doors of the academe and into our communities.  Given the richness of our diversity in Southern California, I hope to engage colleagues with DIAL programs that promote multicultural awareness and international perspectives that will inform our teaching, service, and scholarship.

--Elnora Tayag, Co-Chair
