IV. Continuing Business

    A. CARL Pre-Conference

44 people attended the CARL Pre-Conference hosted by SCIL. A summary of the pre-conference went out to the advisory board via email. There were a few negative comments here and there, but overall the evaluations were positive. The question was asked if we should submit this pre-conference to ACRL. The board agreed that it should be submitted to ACRL. Another question was raised if the pre-conference should be submitted as a whole or two separate pre-conferences, and if SCIL or individuals involved with the planning should submit the pre-conference to ACRL. Deb Moore will communicate these questions to Melanie Remy. Melanie will ask the pre-conference planning committee to discuss these questions. Gale Burrow will write an article on the pre-conference for the CARL Newsletter. Amy Wallace is gathering summaries of the learning experiences developed during the pre-conference for Activity 1. She will put this information together with the Floor Plan and Outcome assigned, and send it to Duffy Tweedy to post to the SCIL website.

    B. 2004 California Regional Immersion

54 applications have been accepted for the Immersion. Lynn Lampert is currently accepting payment for the program. Participants are now able to pay by credit card. Deb Moore will contact all participants and let them know about this opportunity. Gale Burrow and Deb Moore passed around cost sheets. The board confirmed its desire to keep the artists for the opening reception. Amy Wallace will contact the artist to confirm. The board suggested several images that the artist could use. Gale Burrow handed out an updated information sheet on local arrangements. The board reviewed it and gave suggestions. The board called for the creation of several new committees to help with the Immersion. The committees were On Site Registration & Signage, Transportation, Signage, Walking Tour, What to Bring & Local Folder. Rosemary McGill agreed to chair the On Site Registration Committee. Deb Moore will seek volunteers for these committees. The board thought the local folder should include a sponsor list, campus map, and emergency contacts. The board thought we should provide a faculty gift. There will be a brainstorming session on the gift at the next meeting. Deb Moore sent Duffy Tweedy all program dates, registration fee due dates, last day to withdraw with a penalty to post to the website. Let Deb Moore know if you think that we should post any other dates.

ACRL will launch a WebCT site for immersion on May 7th. Gale Burrow and Deb Moore will both have access.

    C. "how to put on SCIL programs" document

This project will be put off until after Immersion.

    B. SCIL Elections

Gale Burrow will chair the elections committee as Past President. Amy moved to postpone this year’s elections to the fall, so all current efforts would stay focused on the 2004 California Regional Immersion. The advisory board voted to move elections to the fall. All agreed there would be time in the Fall 2004 to hold elections and still allow the new officers to take office in January 2005.

VI. Round Robin

There was no Round Robin discussion.

VII. Adjournment

The next meeting will be on Thursday May 27th Mt. San Antonio College. Emily Woolery will send out directions.
