SOME ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
The Instruction Librarian will partner with the Library Director in developing and implementing an innovative, college-wide information literacy program; will create and teach classes stressing information literacy and lifelong learning, including course-related instruction and drop-in workshops; and will develop print and electronic user guides and instructional materials. The Instruction Librarian may also teach credit classes in these or related areas, depending on interest and educational background. The Instruction Librarian will provide reference service using print, electronic and Internet-based resources; participate in collection development; and serve on library and college committees. Some evening and weekend work required.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Master’s degree in Library Science required. The candidate must also possess enthusiasm for working with undergraduates; experience or demonstrated skills in instruction, both one-on-one and in classes of various sizes; knowledge of trends in teaching, instructional design and information literacy; knowledge of a wide range of print, electronic and Internet reference tools; strong technology skills; excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to work well with students, faculty and staff from a variety of backgrounds; ability to work collegially in small groups and team environments; leadership ability; and a commitment to customer service.
