Ordering Operations Manager, Stanford University Libraries’ Ordering Unit

Stanford University is currently seeking a highly organized leader to ensure the effective operation of the Stanford University Libraries’ Ordering Unit. We’ll rely on you to manage staff performance, including setting work expectations and standards, reviewing performance and taking corrective action for regular status Stanford staff members, as well as take responsibility for the entire staff hiring process in the work group. Additionally you will create orders in Unicorn, enter orders in our vendor databases and work closely with supervisors to ensure flow of information, including management information and staff concerns. Your administrative duties will include managing supply requests for the department, compiling and organizing statistics for the Acquisitions Department and acting as the Acquisitions Department administrator for the Kronos Time and Attendance System.This opportunity requires a 4-year college degree or equivalent, the demonstrated ability to apply effective supervisory/work direction and organizational skills, initiative, independence and sound judgment in problem solving and development of policies and procedures. The ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people, balance competing duties and work well under pressure is essential, along with training experience and a thorough knowledge of acquisitions and/or cataloging functions usually associated with 5 years of experience with acquisition or cataloging of library materials in a large, complex library. Excellent English oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with large groups is also necessary, as is reading knowledge of at least 1 language besides English, proficiency using PC-based applications and other computer applications (e-mail, Internet), good keyboarding skills and physical tolerance for at least 6 hours of keying per day. An advanced degree in Library Science or equivalent, demonstrated understanding of collection development policies and procedures and experience in an academic library are preferred.
