Library Director

The City of Hope (Cancer Center, Research Institute, Graduate School) Graff Scientific & Medical Library seeks a dynamic, visionary, and enthusiastic Director to develop and maintain high-quality, digital-age library resources and services. The Director is responsible for developing and communicating a clear vision for the library in support of the clinical, research, and educational missions of the organization. Candidates should possess excellent leadership, management, and interpersonal skills. The Director is responsible for 7.5 FTE and an annual budget in excess of $1.7 million.

Duties

  • Provide leadership in visioning, strategic planning, and goal setting to ensure the library’s continual growth and development.
  • Prepare, manage, and justify the library’s budget in support of the organization’s mission.
  • Work collaboratively with campus stakeholders to advocate for the library, build goodwill, and integrate the library into campus initiatives.
  • Identify and provide innovative resources and services that meet the users’ information needs.
  • Determine user needs, assess library and resource usage, benchmark against peers (current and aspirational), and adjust resources according to changing priorities.
  • Support the day-to-day operations of the library.

Qualifications

Masters Degree in Library/Information Science. Preference for 7+ years in an academic or research library setting with progressively responsible experience.

Salary and Benefits

Salary range: $73,576 – $117,721. Additionally, City of Hope offers a competitive benefits package.
