Health Sciences Branch Coordinator

The Library at the University of the Pacific is seeking a Health Science Branch Coordinator who will be responsible for supervising the library facilities, services, and student assistants in a branch library.

The Health Sciences Library is a branch of the Main Library and provides resources and services to students and faculty in the Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Speech, Language/Pathology, Dental and Chemistry programs/departments.

This position coordinates the activities of the key service points of the branch and is a first point of contact for health and safety concerns, emergency situations, building and collection issues, technology problems, etc. This position is responsible for ensuring the highest level of customer service, including providing basic information and reference assistance and is highly responsive to the needs of external and internal customers. This position supervises one FTE and 5-6 student assistants and delegates assignments to keep employees and student assistants working productively.

Qualifications: Two to three years library experience, a Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of experience, education and training. This position requires working weekdays and may require working an occasional weekend, opening the Health Sciences Branch Library and covering evening shifts when regular coverage is inadequate.

Preferred: Integrated Library Systems knowledge, in particular knowledge of ALEPH, the University Library’s integrated library system; Microsoft Office skills; basic knowledge of photocopy and Vend Card machines; Library of Congress call number system; basic computer troubleshooting skills in a Windows environment; Docline & OCLC interlibrary loan databases; library databases and electronic journals; strong communication, analytical, and public service skills; discretion; willingness and ability to provide basic information and reference services; strong organizational skills, budgeting and scheduling skills; strong supervisory skills.
