ASSISTANT PROFESSOR
OUTREACH LIBRARIAN

A full-time faculty position reporting to the Library Director, the Outreach Librarian contributes to the development of programs, services, and resources related to the instructional mission of the library and must have substantial expertise in current information technology trends. The position coordinates library outreach services and develops innovative ideas to increase the effectiveness of library services. Evening and weekend work and some travel are required.

Responsibilities: The Outreach Librarian develops and implements the library marketing plan; uses technologies to design and deliver library services to the campus community; provides reference and research assistance; teaches courses in information literacy; participates in collection development and serves as a liaison to one or more academic departments. The Outreach Librarian is expected to participate in all University service appropriate to faculty and to engage in appropriate scholarly and professional activities.

Qualifications: Candidates are required to demonstrate they have the following: an ALA accredited master’s degree; a working knowledge of current and emerging technologies critical to the library; excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills; ability and willingness to work effectively in a rapidly changing institutional environment and with a diverse user population; a spirit of innovation; and evidence of professional initiative. Subject background in architecture, interior architecture, or closely related subject field; experience providing architecture, art, design or business reference assistance in an academic, corporate, or public library; and experience in providing library instruction and/or in teaching are preferred.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience; minimum $51,800, 12-month contract with faculty status.

Major programs are in architecture, business, media, culture, and design and transdisciplinary studies. The library collection includes more than 75,000 items and provides access to more than fifty research databases.
