Director of Library Services

Antioch University, Los Angeles, is accepting applications for a full time Director of Library Services.This is a full-time faculty position for an academic Librarian who can oversee, maintain, and further develop library services for the campus community at Antioch University Los Angeles, (AULA). The Director of Library Services will evaluate and coordinate the provision of traditional library services, including in-class library and research skills instruction, one-on-one reference help, collection development, and the development of online content for undergraduate and graduate programs. The Director of Library Services will also serve as the local partner for all University-wide services including digital document delivery, interlibrary loan services, and shared electronic resources. The Director of Library Services will supervise the Math & Writing Center staff and the work-study student library staff. This position requires organizational skills; supervisory skills; strong interpersonal communication skills and an ability to work independently.

Job Specifications:
• ALA accredited MLS or MLIS
• Demonstrated knowledge of academic reference services (traditional & electronic)
• Knowledge of current & emerging trends and technologies in the delivery of library services
• Expertise with electronic information sources, including an ability to create web content
• Familiarity with issues surrounding provision of library services to on and off-campus students
• Flexibility to work in a team environment, both locally and through a dispersed institution
• Strong service orientation
• Experience conducting classroom/lab-based library skills information sessions
• Experience providing one-on-one reference services to adult students
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Hours of Employment: This is a full-time position. Some early evening hours (until 7:00 or 7:30pm) and Saturday morning hours may be required.

Compensation and Benefits: Salary based on placement on the Core Faculty Salary Schedule. Benefits include medical and dental insurance, paid holidays, sick and vacation leave, prescription drug service, life insurance, and retirement plan. Employees are eligible for tuition benefit after one year of employment.
