10-month adjunct reference librarian

The John M. Pfau Library is seeking applicants for the position of temporary adjunct reference librarian.
Starting date is September 2, 2008.
DUTIES: Primary duties will be reference and instruction. Other duties may include developing instructional materials and participating in collection development. Evening and weekend hours will be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: To be recommended for appointment, the candidate must have a Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution and have a strong commitment to public service. Reference and instruction experience in an academic library is preferred.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT/SALARY: This is a temporary contract position at the rank of Senior Assistant Librarian. The contract is for thirty hours per week at the salary of $3,497 per month plus benefits and vacation. Starting date is September 2, 2008.
THE UNIVERSITY: Situated 70 miles east of Los Angeles, California State University, San Bernardino is one of the fastest growing of the 23 CSU campuses with approximately 17,000 students, 500 full-time faculty, and 44 undergraduate and 21 graduate degree programs. The university consists of colleges of business and public administration, education, arts and letters, natural sciences, and social and behavioral sciences. Off-campus programs are offered at the Palm Desert campus.
THE LIBRARY: The Pfau Library has a general collection of 750,000 books and subscriptions to thousands of print and online periodicals. A government depository, the library is fully networked, including wireless access. The library’s 80+ electronic databases are accessible remotely by students, faculty, and staff. Reference services to the campus community include traditional reference desk assistance, E-mail reference, and 24/7 reference, as well as access to online tutorials and in-person, customized library instruction.
