EDUCATION SERVICES AND REFERENCE LIBRARIAN

Reporting to the Director of Library Services, The Education Services and Reference Librarian (ESRL) collaboratively plans, develops, implements, and continually improves the Library’s suite of instructional and educational services. The ESRL supports student learning across disciplines by working with faculty/staff to facilitate the use of curriculum-specific information resources, provides access to course-related online materials in course management systems or other online environments, and develops and delivers digital learning objects that address information literacy (IL) needs. The ESRL works collaboratively with members of the Library Team and staff from other campus units to support the recruitment, retention, and outreach goals of the university, through appropriate Library-related programs and services.

SOME ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
§ Manages the design, delivery, and assessment of the Library’s instructional program, including scheduling and outreach to faculty in regards to educational services offered.
§ Teaches information literacy workshops.
§ Writes annual assessment report on the department’s information literacy program.
§ Designs, develops, and delivers pedagogically-sound tools and materials (including e-learning modules, video tutorials, rubrics, assignments, syllabi, etc.) that foster the development of library/IL skills and competencies
§ Develops and tests new instructional tools, techniques, and approaches, and shares them with library colleagues through the auspices of the Teaching and Learning Institute.
§ Provides reference services, including in-depth research consultations and point of need information literacy instruction, to students, faculty, and staff Collaborates with the Library team to manage online reference services for distance learners
§ Aggregates and records statistics of reference transactions for the academic year
§ Assesses annual reference transactions as they relate to information literacy instruction and student learning

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Masters in Library/Information Science (M.L.I.S.) from an ALA-accredited program is required. Prefer experience instructional design and delivery, emerging learning technologies, and working with undergraduates and graduates in an academic library.
