Social Sciences and Ethnic Studies Team Librarian

The Claremont Colleges, a distinguished consortium of five undergraduate liberal arts colleges and two graduate institutions located just east of Los Angeles, California, seeks an energetic, innovative and productive Social Sciences and Ethnic Studies Team Librarian for the Claremont Colleges Library.

This position offers an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to develop collaborative ongoing relationships with faculty, students, and staff to support research, teaching, and learning within Social Sciences and Ethnic Studies fields across the Claremont Colleges.

Reporting to the Social Sciences Team Leader in the Research, Teaching, and Learning Services (RTLS) division, the librarian will be responsible for providing campus liaison and subject specialist services, information literacy instruction, and reference and research services, and for selecting, acquiring, and managing information resources in the Social Sciences. The successful candidate will join a team that has broad purview for ensuring that the library meets the needs of students and faculty in Social Sciences and Ethnic Studies disciplines, and that has become a strong and well-integrated partner in learning and intellectual activities within the consortium.

The incumbent will have the opportunity to further contribute to the success of the library through a liaison assignment to one of the Claremont Colleges. The RTLS division provides an innovative matrix approach to enhancing the user experience through a compelling package of information literacy instruction, research and scholarly communication services, selection of information resources, outreach, and programmatic activities.

Requirements include a MLIS degree from an accredited ALA program and three years’ professional experience working in public services in an academic library. An undergraduate degree in a Social Science or Ethnic Studies discipline is preferred.
