The Meriam Library is seeking a Metadata and Cataloging Librarian to serve as the library’s lead on metadata creation and original cataloging at CSU, Chico. This position will provide expertise in cataloging and metadata creation for digital collections. The successful candidate will have a passion for developing new programs, creating metadata schema, and collaborating in the creation of digital collections at CSU, Chico.

This position will enhance resource discovery and improve access to collections by implementing and supporting metadata strategies associated with digital scholarship and collections. The Metadata and Cataloging Librarian maintains awareness of and engagement with the national and international trends and developments in cataloging and metadata standards, bibliographic and authority control, and knowledge management. This position currently oversees two assistant cataloging positions and is part of the Collection Management and Acquisitions Unit. The incumbent works closely with staff and librarians and participates in library committees, task forces, special projects related to metadata and cataloging and is involved in the California State University (CSU) system-wide initiatives. Position is contingent on funding.

The Meriam Library supports a comprehensive university curriculum at the Master’s degree level and emphasizes active engagement and outreach with faculty and students. The Library is a unit of Academic Affairs. Further information about the Meriam Library is available on our website
