PAY RANGE: $35.94 – $41.57 per hour

POSITION OVERVIEW

The City of Torrance is seeking a flexible, detail-oriented Senior Librarian who will, under direction, manage a branch library or specialized library function. In addition, the incumbent will plan, organize, and supervise the activities of subordinate personnel and perform related work as required. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Any combination of education and experience that would have provided the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and skills would be:

Master of Library Science degree from an ALA accredited college or university; and Three (3) years of professional public library experience in area of responsibility.

  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Strong working knowledge of computer applications for library services, including MS Office, complex databases, mobile, technologies, and internet searching.
  • Current collection development skills across many formats.
  • Experience with public outreach and programming.
  • Ability to work regular evening and Saturday hours.
