Salary:Initial placement, $82,692- $123,409 annually

Health and Welfare:
The College contributes $12,159 toward annual premiums for medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage. Lifetime retirement benefits provided for eligible retirees.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
1. CTE Initiatives and Planning
a. Meet the needs of Career & Technical (CTE ) students in all aspects of library services and support
b. Advocate, represent, and support the library needs of CTE students in program accreditation processes and campus-wide initiatives such as Strong Workforce, California Guided Pathways, and Perkins
c. Engage in library planning and budget requests that considers and integrates CTE needs within the overall scope of general library planning and budget process
d. Prepare written, analytical reports based on outcomes data related to CTE initiatives and share findings and recommendations with stakeholders
2. CTE Outreach and Collaboration
a. Work with CTE faculty to develop meaningful connections to library materials and classroom assignments that develop critical thinking and support skill development and information analysis specific to CTE student needs
b. Promote library resources and services to CTE faculty and students in cooperation with librarians
a. Collaborate with CTE faculty to analyze and identify unique information competency needs of CTE students to enhance learning and promote the use of library resources
b. Develop, market, and deliver CTE -centered information competency instruction and research assistance regardless of location and share insights with librarians and faculty
c. Teach, develop, and assess general library information competency workshops, tours, and credit research courses delivered in both in-person and distance learning formats
d. Teach information literacy concepts using best practices in academic libraries and culturally responsive pedagogy that include print and digital information retrieval strategies, incorporate technology as part of the research and retrieval process, and differentiate and explain the value of print and electronic options
4. Collection Development
a. Collaborate with CTE faculty to identify and select library resources required for successful course and program completion by developing the collection and providing access to unique CTE materials
b. Collect, analyze, and interpret usage data to support purchases, renewals, and cancellations with a focus on items supporting CTE purchases
c. Develop initiatives in conjunction with the Electronic Resources librarians to expand access to Open Education Resources (OERs) and low or no cost library resources and advocate for their adoption with a focus on CTE options
d. Develop, evaluate, and maintain assigned library collection areas in collaboration with discipline experts as a librarian liaison to ensure that relevant up-to-date library resources, which reflect the curricular needs of each department, are available to support programs, degrees, and certificates as well as individual courses and subject areas specific to Mt. SAC
e. Use a variety of collection development tools and approval plans to evaluate choices, select materials, and manage collection development processes
5. General Library Duties
a. Collaborate with librarians in all practices in a team-oriented environment
b. Collaborate in the development, evaluation, and assessment of library policies, procedures, and workflows
c. Provide in-person and online chat reference services to a diverse population that support a philosophy of instruction and research skills development focusing on critical thinking and analysis
d. Assist and instruct students, faculty, and staff in constructing effective search strategies, finding relevant resources, and evaluating research materials from full-text research databases, library catalogs, and other print and electronic resources
e. Collaborate in the development and assessment of student learning outcomes and unit objectives by focusing on data analysis and using results to formulate strategies for improved outcomes
f. Participate in professional and co-curricular activities, e.g., committees, student activities, governance processes, or curriculum review and development
g. Fulfill late afternoon and/or evening assignments that may be required as part of the regular contract
A. The minimum of one of the following qualifications awarded/conferred from a regionally accredited institution:
1. Master’s degree in library science, library and information science; OR
2. The equivalent (must attach an https://www.mtsac.edu/hr/pdf/faculty_equivalency_form.pdf), OR
3. California Community College credential, “Valid for Life” (no longer issued), authorizing service as an instructor in the appropriate discipline (If meeting qualifications with this credential, a copy of the valid lifetime credential AND transcripts must be submitted with the application.)
B. Commitment to the community college goals/objectives of providing quality programs and services for students with diverse abilities and interests; personal qualities to work effectively and sensitively in a multicultural environment; awareness and commitment to the special needs of non-traditional students
C. Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English
1. Master’s degree from an American Library Association (ALA ) accredited library or information school
2. Experience identifying and selecting materials and vendors for specific populations with distinct needs in CTE fields.
3. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships between departments and teams working on curriculum, planning, and budgeting
4. Knowledge about culturally responsive pedagogical techniques and effective practices for engaging historically underrepresented and underserved students
License(s) and Other Requirements:
The incumbent may periodically be required to get to a variety of locations. If operating a vehicle, employees must have the ability to secure and maintain a valid California driver’s license.

Conditions of Employment:
This is a full-time, tenure-track, 12-month contract position that begins in the 2019-20 academic year. Placement on the salary schedule is based on formal education, full-time and/or part-time teaching, and related work experience, up to a maximum placement at step 9.
Official offers of employment are made by Mt. San Antonio College Human Resources and are made contingent upon Board approval. It is also required that a final offer of employment will only be made after the candidate has successfully been live-scanned and clearance for employment is authorized by Human Resources. Costs for live-scan services shall be borne by the candidate.
