The Drescher Graduate Campus Librarian is a key member of the team of librarians and staff who together manage the operations of the graduate campus libraries at Pepperdine University. The Drescher Graduate Campus Librarian works under the direction of the Dean of Libraries and reports to the Associate University Librarian for Public Services and is responsible for carrying out services to support learning, research, and teaching. The Librarian works closely with colleagues on the Malibu campus and with colleagues at Pepperdine graduate campus locations around the Los Angeles area. The Librarian interacts with faculty in the Graduate Business and Public Policy Schools, and participates in the design and delivery of services and programs that promote use of the libraries collections, services and expertise.
Provide research and reference assistance, and other critical services to Library users.
a. Assist patrons in locating information using analog and digital sources.
b. Provide general research and reference assistance.
c. Offer in-depth research and reference support in business and public policy.
Manage the Drescher Campus Library.
a. Supervise library staff and students in daily activities at the library and evaluate their performance.
Actively participate in information literacy/knowledge navigation instruction.
a. Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating a program of orientation and instruction for students, faculty, and staff at the campus libraries.
b. Instruct patrons in information seeking research skills.
c. Instruct patrons in the use of both print and electronic (local area network, on-line, and Internet) information sources.
d. Create print and electronic instructional materials to support specific classes or subjects.
Create and disseminate pertinent information to users.
a. Review and update LibGuides.
b. Disseminate information about library services to appropriate distribution channels.
Participate in collection development activities.
a. Maintain a reference collection development and maintenance policy statement in business and public policy.
b. Evaluate and recommend materials in business and public policy for collection development.
c. Act as subject specialist liaison with faculty and administrators and communicate with them on a regular basis.
Other projects and duties as assigned, including:
a. Participate in the development, writing and updating of pertinent library documents, such as procedures manuals, database guides and training materials.
b. Plan and execute small exhibitions in the library.
c. Plan and coordinate presentations in the library (e.g., book talks, lectures, etc.).
d. Participate in long and short-term library planning for the Library.
e. Engage in research and publishing according to guidelines set forth in the Librarians’ Handbook.
f. Serve on Library and University committees.
g. Seek out and participate in professional development activities.

Skills and Qualifications
Required: M.L.S or similar degree from an ALA accredited library school; excellent interpersonal and communication skills, well organized, team player, highly motivated, ability to work independently and collaboratively; an appreciation for and understanding of the University’s Christian mission, and a desire to contribute to that mission; command of business databases for research; experience serving in-person and online graduate student populations; experience with ILS, MS Suite, Google Apps
Preferred: Second master’s degree.
