Job Description
Under the direct supervision and direction of the Director of Library Services, this position has a variety of functions within the Library Department. This position assists the Librarians across six California Alliant campuses in performing all acquisitions-related functions including ordering, receiving, processing and claiming materials. Other duties are described below and involve cataloging, knowledge of library operations, terminology and Innovative Interfaces, Inc., specifically the Millennium Acquisitions and Serials modules, supervisory experience, and a high level of customer service.
The successful candidate will be dedicated to providing high-quality service to all constituencies of Alliant International University. S/he will exhibit professional standards and ethical principles and will be committed to the tenets of Alliant International University’s Mission and Vision.

Responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Systemwide Acquisitions
· Coordinates orders of physical collection materials, including assessment materials, across all California Alliant International University campuses.
· Places orders with vendors by phone, email, online, mail and fax.
· Tracks arrival of material, receives, processes, and prepares items for shipment to requesting library.
· Creates and maintains order records in the Millennium Acquisitions module.
· Maintain a list of forthcoming titles the library will purchase when published.
· Monitor the Alliant events calendar for invited guest speakers and research potential purchases written by those speakers.
· Produce monthly and annual statistical reports on materials added to the library collection.
· Produce and distribute to the Alliant community lists of titles purchased each month that relate to the Alliant Academic Programs.
· Manage library donations.
· Coordinate bi-annual inventory of the physical collection.

Cataloging
· Coordinates cataloging of materials with staff across campuses.
· Catalogs materials for Los Angeles campus and other campuses without local catalogers.

Serials Management
· Claim materials not received on a monthly basis.
· Coordinate check-in for serials at the Los Angeles campus.
Supervision
· Supervise student assistants working in the Library.
· Create and maintain a student assistant work schedule each semester, keeping within the budgeted amount allotted to student library assistants.
· Approve student assistant timecards.
· Coordinate, with your library colleagues, the hiring and training of students.
· Coordinate, with your library colleagues, project management of student assistants.
· Oversee evaluation of student assistants’ job performance.
Other Duties
· Cross-train in Access Services position to assist as needed.
· Provide Circulation Desk coverage as necessary.
· Maintain a procedure manual for this position.
· Other duties as assigned.

Education
Bachelor’s degree plus two years of library experience, or Library Technician Certificate
Experience

Library technical services, especially using the Innovative Interfaces Millennium system. Original and copy cataloging experience required. Acquisitions experience, serials processing experience preferred.
Ability to work in a thoughtful, expressive environment, with a group of team leaders working together to create a constructive, open-minded, and innovative learning community.
