The Robert E. Kennedy Library at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, CA, seeks enterprising candidates with strong interpersonal and technical skills to manage the Kennedy Library’s Special Collections and University Archives digital program and to provide leadership and coordination for library programs in support of campus digital media collections, programs and services.

Under the direction of the Director, Information Resources and Archives and working closely with the Head of Special Collections and University Archives, this position will develop and manage the digital program and infrastructure for the Kennedy Library Special Collections and University Archives and promote digital collections and services for the department to ensure integration with library initiatives.

This position will collaborate with librarians, including the Digital Scholarship Services Librarian, information technologists, faculty, and campus partners to develop and implement the infrastructure, programs and services to support the use of digital media (images, video, and other rich media) in student and faculty research and the campus curriculum.

This full time tenure-track position is available at the Senior Assistant or Associate Librarian level, with an anticipated hiring range of $57,000-$70,000 plus a generous benefits package. Appointment rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications: MLS from an ALA accredited program or comparable library experience; minimum 2 years professional experience in digital asset management for special collections, digital records management, digital humanities, or a comparable field; and digital program or project management experience in educational or cultural institutions such as special collections, archives, or academic libraries.

The Library at the University of the Pacific is seeking an experienced library operations manager responsible for supervising staff, facilities, and public services in the University Library’s Access Services Department. The University Library serves the faculty, students, and staff of Pacific’s undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs.  Provides effective management and direction of the daily activities of the department.  Serves in an advisory role to Library Administration in strategic planning, technology development and enhancement of Library Access Services. Duties include: management of circulation; patron account services; course reserves; stacks maintenance; interlibrary loan and document delivery and resource sharing. Supervises staff and student employees; hires, trains, assigns work duties, evaluates performance, directs staff development and administers disciplinary actions.

 

Qualifications

Required:  Bachelor’s degree, minimum of five (5) years successful experience in an academic library demonstrating knowledge and understanding of library public services, the technologies used to support programs and services, circulation, resource sharing and interlibrary loan/document delivery, electronic reserves, document imaging and storage, operations supervision, staff management and development. Working knowledge of online systems and software utilized in academic libraries including integrated library systems, ILLiad, OCLC systems and services, document imaging software, electronic reserves systems, and course management systems. Outstanding customer service skills.
