This is a tenure-track position open at the rank of Senior Assistant Librarian. Salary is commensurate with rank, experience, and qualifications, along with generous medical and pension benefits through the California Public Employees’ Retirement System. Duties and Responsibilities

The Archivist for Orange County Regional History is responsible for developing, making accessible, and advocating for archives and special collections materials as well as oral history and documentation initiatives relating to the history of the Orange County, California region. Reporting to the Head of Special Collections & Archives and University Archivist, the Archivist for Orange County Regional History works collaboratively within the department to acquire collections and determine appropriate approaches to preparing collections for use. The Archivist implements uniform arrangement and description standards and ensures that collections are efficiently and effectively processed and described. The Archivist participates in archival processing, metadata, and cataloging activities for relevant special collections materials and digital projects. The Archivist works in partnership with the Archivist for the Southeast Asian Archive to lead the instructional and programmatic activities of the Orange County & Southeast Asian Archive (OC&SEAA) Center, including developing, consulting, and engaging in archival outreach, instruction, and oral history initiatives of the UCI Libraries on the UCI campus (faculty, students, and staff) and in the community. The Archivist coordinates the life cycle of digital and physical oral history assets created within or acquired by the department, including conversion, transcription, description, and online delivery strategies. The Archivist for Orange County Regional History may participate in exhibits, donor relations, and grant proposals as appropriate.

Senior Librarian

The ideal candidate will be curious about innovative library technologies and bringing them to our city. The incumbent will oversee collections of e-books and other digital items; identify and implement new library technology; lead our web site team; and train both staff members and the public in the use of these new technologies. An ideal candidate should exhibit a can-do attitude, and approach to their work with vigor and determination, as they will be joining a team that will lead our library forward.
