Information Technology Librarian

California State University, San Bernardino’s (CSUSB) John M. Pfau Library invites applications from forward-looking, collaborative, service-focused librarians to provide the leadership and effective communication to maintain, enrich, and advance the library’s information technologies and Web services.

Responsibilities: The Information Technology Librarian (ITL) is a tenure-track faculty position reporting to the dean of the Pfau Library.

The ITL is the Head of the Library Information Technology unit which is charged with deploying and maintaining the library’s computers, related technologies, and Web services, as well as monitoring emerging technologies within and outside of library environments for possible use at the Pfau Library.

The ITL’s ultimate goal is a high level of user satisfaction facilitated by a deep understanding of users’ needs, values, abilities, and limitations.

The ITL supervises an IT Support Supervisor and an Assistant Web Developer and oversees the Innovation Lab, a space with 3D scanning and printing, circuitry kits, virtual reality headgear, and more.

The ITL also plays a crucial role in liaising with the campus Information Technology Services division with regard to services affecting the library, including networks, servers, information security, and more. The position serves on library, campus, and CSU technology committees and communicates information between these entities. At the library level, the ITL chairs the Library Information Technology Council.

The ITL will administer ExLibris’ PRIMO, the platform behind the library’s new OneSearch discovery layer, and may provide some combination of reference service, instruction, collection development, and liaison duties based upon knowledge and experience.

All tenure-track librarians must engage in the requisite research, creative work, and service to meet the tenure standards for faculty at the university. The library provides support for and fosters intellectual endeavors, and values librarians as faculty with their own research interests depending on academic background.

First Year Experience Librarian, UC San Diego

  • Staff the circulation desk during set hours to assist with check-in and check-out of materials;
  • Provide basic reference and help patrons navigate the library;

Digital Asset Management Coordinator

 The Claremont Colleges Library (CCL) is vitalizing its programs and services for collecting, curating, preserving, and making discoverable digital content. The Claremont Colleges Digital Library (CCDL) and Scholarship@Claremont (S@C), our digital publishing platform and institutional repository, contain rich collections, including faculty and student publications and primary resources.
After a groundbreaking decade of successes, our operations, platforms, and services that support digital scholarship are in need of review to ensure their sustainability and ability to expand with the growing information needs of the Claremont Colleges. We are prioritizing Institutional Repository platform review. We are creating four positions: our first CLIR Postdoctoral Fellow for Data Services; an Original Cataloging and Metadata Team Leader (OCMTL); a Digital Asset Management Coordinator (DAMC); and a Scholarly Communications Coordinator (SCC).

For the DAMC position, we are seeking a knowledgeable and skilled individual with enthusiasm and passion to collaborate with faculty, students, and librarians in the creation and use of digital resources and data in research, teaching, and learning. She/he will coordinate the development and curation of CCL’s digital assets in close collaboration with content producers, providers, and selectors. This position will lead the library’s digital publishing and preservation services by managing the CCDL and S@C. In partnership with the OCMTL, the DAMC will coordinate training on creating descriptive, administrative, and preservation metadata for objects in the digital collections. The DAMC will also plan, implement, and evaluate technologies that support digital publishing and preservation.

The DAMC will plan, organize, implement, and oversee the best care and delivery of the library’s digital assets. She/he will coordinate the efforts of librarians to identify content for the library’s digital collections and publications and determine best practices for their care, discoverability, and accessibility. We are looking to create a robust technological and staffing infrastructure to support our digital asset management program, and the DAMC will play a key role in leading the way.
