San Diego State University Library & Information Access seeks applications and nominations of candidates for the position of Head of Technical Services. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, collegial, user-focused librarian who will provide dynamic leadership for our newly reorganized technical services departments and our new consortial and local library management system. The Head of Technical Services will provide direction and strategic management for the full spectrum of the technical services provided by the library including: acquisitions, cataloging, classification, physical processing, database and electronic resource maintenance, and processing of government publications. The successful candidate will lead Library Technical Services in new and interesting directions as information organization, discovery, and access tools change and evolve. This position is appointed at the the Associate Librarian rank. Salary commensurate with experience.

Associate Dean for Digital Technologies and Resource Management, California State University, Sacramento

The Associate Dean reports to the Dean of the University Library and serves as a member of the library’s senior leadership team which plans Library-wide services, facilitates operations, and resolve issues. The Associate Dean is the administrator over the Library Systems and the Collection Management Services departments. This position is responsible for developing strategic directions for supporting library systems and technology; building and managing physical and virtual collections, including acquisitions and cataloging; and providing infrastructure support for our burgeoning scholarly communications program in support of the research and teaching needs of the University.

The Associate Dean participates as a member of library-wide groups, task forces, and project teams as appropriate and is expected to work comfortably and with a high degree of expertise in a shared decision-making environment. As a leader, the Associate Dean will foster an environment where strategic and well-informed risk taking is encouraged.  As a senior member of Department Heads and Collections Council, this position is responsible for library-wide planning and policy making, the incumbent works with other library leaders to shape strategic directions for the Libraries.

The ILL & Access Services Supervisor, under the supervision of Manager, Interlibrary Loan, obtains published material (books, dissertations, and journal articles) not available in the University Library or Heafey Law Library collections for Santa Clara University students, faculty and staff in order to facilitate their educational and research needs. The ILL & Access Services Information Specialist also provides excellent library and information service at the Library Help Desk in support of the University’s academic programs as outlined in the University Library’s Strategic Plan. Performs specialized duties requiring broad knowledge of general library operations and/or materials, and specific library policies and procedures in a diverse work environment. Delivers accurate, timely, and courteous service that respects individual needs and strengthens the educational experience. Participates in planning and accomplishing the goals of Access & Delivery Services. Duties include student training and supervision. The primary schedule is Tuesday-Saturday, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Adjustments in this schedule will be required as a function of the academic calendar, e.g., intersession, summer hours etc.

Education and/or Experience
At least two years of library or front line customer service experience required.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Salary Information
Hiring Range: $20.65 – $23.74 per hour, commensurates with experience

The Reference and Circulation Services Manager manages and provides leadership for the core public services provided to students, faculty and staff. The position is critical to providing excellent service and timely access to a wide range of information resources. This position ensures that everyone that provides general library help and reference services (including full-time staff and librarians) is expertly trained and meets performance expectations. The Reference and Circulation Services Manager is responsible for directly supervising 2 full-time staff, supervising all student assistants, and overseeing the work of other full-time staff. The Reference and Circulation Services Manager creates, coordinates, implements and evaluates Reference, Circulation, Privileges, and other services that ensure access to information. The position is also responsible for training all student assistants, full-time staff, and librarians who provide services at the single service point. The Manager also has primary responsibility for managing the staffing and delivery of the reference appointment service.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s Degree and at least 2 years of library experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience supervising and managing staff.
This is a full-time staff position and does not require an MLS degree.

Salary Information
Hiring Range: $27.43 – $31.53 hourly
