Under the general supervision of the Principal Librarian, the Librarian is responsible for cataloging materials in various formats into the State Library’s online catalog, maintaining catalog records, and serving as a resource for cataloging issues. The Librarian also provides reference assistance and conducts archival literacy classes and outreach to the San Francisco State University community and beyond. This position is also the Sutro Library volunteer coordinator.
The Sutro Library is home to the antiquarian book and archival collection of Adolph Sutro containing over 90,000 volumes of rare books and 100,000 pamphlets, broadsides and maps. We also hold an impressive collection of genealogy and local history sources.
